Great Movies and Stuff

I have recently seen two great yet completely different movies.
The Cooler with Alec Baldwin, William H. Macy and The Last Samurai with Tom Cruise.

In the case of The Cooler, Bill Macy turns in another great performance as a loser whose luck finally changes. I rented this and actually am going to buy it rather then just copying the rental.

The Last Samurai is outstanding not because of the great action scenes, which are great, but because of the story it tells. Although mainly a creation of Hollywood screenwriters, the story does contains a few kernels of historical fact. I don't know the actor's name, but the actor who plays the Samurai leader steals the movie from Cruise. Tom does turn in a decent performance but is clearly outside his comfort level when forced to actually act rather then perform a stunt in one of his over the top action scenes.

Enough about those movies, anyone heard about these 48 hour DVD's that self-destruct? What a crock of shit from the greedy bastards in Hollywood. It's not enough to charge about 10 bucks a movie in the theater, now we can rent movies that turn in to coasters in 48 hours. Stay tuned for more on this load of bull from the libs in freakyville. Later troops......
