Kerry's Form 180: The Blogburst Edition

John Kerry has never released his military records, in spite of his bragging about being a “war hero", and claiming he would release them soon on the "Meet The Press" television show with Tim Russert and the "Imus in the Morning" show with Don Imus. So let’s encourage him to release his military records to “clear things up".

Well John has gone and "done it" folks. He finally signed the Form 180 according to his staff and his personal newspaper the Boston Globe. Now he just needs to release the form and make the records available to the public. As a group of concerned citizens who want to hold our leaders accountable we’ve formed a blogburst group to drive the issue home. If you want to join the blogroll for Free Kerry’s 180, click here to email me, include the url for your blog. The blogburst is every Tuesday, so don’t forget to blog about it. All you have to do is encourage Kerry to set his 180 FREE, I’ll send you the code for the blogroll.

The more people we have, the merrier!

Memorial Day 2005: Remember Our Heroes

As we observe Memorial Day this year, I would like to draw attention to some heroes that you may never have heard of or were reported in passing by the MSM. I would also like to personally thank each and every member of our armed forces for their service, sacrifice and dedication to preserving the freedom that we enjoy today. I pray that peace be granted to those who have fallen in course of their duty, comfort be given to those they have left behind, and let this nation remain humble so that no citizen ever forget the debt we owe them.

Patrick Donoghue of the Philadelphia Inquirer had a great column up Friday about remembering our heroes; the link is at the end of his suggestion.

On Memorial Day we honor the men and women who paid the ultimate price for being an American. Each deserves to be remembered, to be kept alive, for just a little longer. There are hundreds of thousands of them, and even the millions of us who are indebted cannot possibly say all of their names. But we can pick just one - from a history book, a news report, war memorial or grave marker - and say it aloud on Memorial Day. We can give it weight, relevance, life. We can say it while we're at the beach, at a barbecue, driving a car, or working around the yard. That one name may get us thinking about the freedoms we exercise but do not always cherish. And it may remind us that in this life, no hour can ever be too precious, no day too mundane. Source

These are some of the names that I will say aloud on this Memorial Day and their stories.

Some outside the Pacific Northwest may know the story of Sgt. Rafael Petralta. Sgt. Peralta was a Marine and as such participated in the assault on Fallujah back in November of 2004. As his team moved in to a house to clear it, Petralta was mortally wounded and the two Marines behind him were wounded as well. As he lay wounded and dying, a terrorist rolled a fragmentation grenade into the room near him and his fellow wounded Marines. Without a moment’s hesitation Petralta dove on the grenade smothering the blast with his body and saving the Marines behind his position from injury and possible death. From interviews with others in his squad, this type of selfless act was the very definition of Rafael Peralta’s life. God Bless.

The only Medal of Honor to be awarded for action in the Iraq War so far was given to Sgt. 1st Class Paul Smith. On April 4th Sgt. Smith and his 15 combat engineers were tasked with setting up a roadblock just outside Saddam International Airport (now Baghdad International Airport) on the road to Baghdad. As he was deploying his men to fulfill their mission Iraqi troops moved in to oppose them. Shortly after 10am the engagement began and Sgt. Smith and his men found that they were faced around 100 Iraqi soldiers. As the firefight scaled up, Smith jumped on one of the unit’s M113 armored troop carriers and began firing at the advancing Iraqis with its 50 caliber machine gun. He slowed the Iraqi troops enough so that other members of his team could clear a tower that allowed the enemy to fire directly down into the courtyard occupied by his men. Sadly Sgt. Smith was killed by enemy fire just as the attack was repulsed. President Bush presented Sgt. Smith widow with the Medal of Honor on the one year anniversary of his bravery and death. God Bless.

During the Battle of Fallujah, the Marines of 2nd Squad, 3rd Platoon, India Company paid a heavy price for their success against the terrorists of Iraq. During fierce action that dominated the battle this unit lost three great Marines, 2nd Lt. J.P. Blecksmith, Lance Cpl. Antoine Smith and Cpl Shane Kielion. Both men were killed as India moved into the city as the “tip of the spear”. Lt. Blecksmith was killed while hunting a sniper with the squad and Lance Cpl. Smith and Cpl. Kielion were killed in house to house fighting. God Bless.

Sadly less then a month ago we lost a local hero here in Phoenix, Arizona. On May 7th, 2005 Sgt. Michael A. Marzano was killed defending a hospital outside of Hadithah, Iraq by a suicide vehicle bearing an improvised explosive device. Sgt. Marzano was a member of the Marine Reserve’s 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division. Sgt. Marzano had already completed a term of service as an active Marine and was discharged in May of 2003. He felt so compelled to help his country that he joined the Marine Reserves and volunteered for a tour in Iraq. Sgt. Marzano had been in Iraq since March of this year and was serving as a member of the 3-25 Weapons Company, working as part of the Mobile Assault Platoon (MAP) 7 responding to acts of terrorism and providing back up to Iraqi forces. God Bless.

While Memorial Day is meant to honor our military dead, I want to point out another group of soldiers that while they have not given their lives the sacrifice that they have made should not be overlooked. I am talking about the soldiers that want to return to active combat duty even after losing a limb in warfare. The men profiled in the piece I have linked to have worked their way back to where they are being granted their request to go back to Iraq or Afghanistan and fight alongside the men and women they left after being wounded. If anyone ever doubted the resolve of the American Military they need look no farther then these soldier to see what our men and women are capable of. God Bless and Good Luck.

As you enjoy the holiday wherever you are, please remember that that the freedom that we enjoy and that some abuse is bought and paid for by the blood, sweat, and tears of brave men and women such as the ones listed above. Those are some of the names I will be saying aloud this Memorial Day. Below I have listed some of the charities that I either have donated to or worked with that help our men and women in the military. If you feel the call, please help any or all of them in whatever form you choose. Thank you and God Bless the United States. Have a happy and safe Memorial Day everyone.

WTF Friday Rant Volume 1 Issue 25

It is that time again folks. It's the WTF Friday Rant, long holiday weekend edition. I hope everyone has a great weekend and holiday. Please remember who this holiday is for. Visit a veteran’s grave, lay a wreath, watch a parade, and most importantly, thank a veteran for his or her service. If you have the means and motivation, please help out the folks over at Cool Our Troops. They send personal misters to our troops serving in Iraq and as summer approaches the need is even greater. Have a great weekend everyone.

The ACLU Piles On The False Koran Abuse Story

As if the ACLU continued defense of American criminals and degenerates is not enough the ACLU has now taken their unholy cause to the very terrorists that have swore to kill or convert every man, women, and child in the United States. The ACLU has now “uncovered” more evidence of torture and mistreatment at the hands of United States Military interrogators. In a press release the ACLU blows their own trumpet on their “success” at uncovering “abuses”. Funny thing, the newest document that the ACLU is using as evidence is over 2 years old, has been investigated by the Military and already been dismissed as an outright lie or fabrication by the prisoner. Sit tight folks and let me point out yet another issue where the ACLU is blatantly wrong and in fact entirely anti-American.

The story of Koran abuse by Newsweek was proven to be false and ultimately retracted by both the magazine and the original accuser and rightly so Newsweek has endured the scorn and loss of respect by people around the world. Should the ACLU share that spot in the Hall of Shame with Newsweek? Absolutely! The ACLU has been alleging prisoner abuse including abuse of the Koran since 2002 and even after an internal Department of Defense investigation, an FBI investigation and the release of many documents from both the US Military and the CIA has shown that nothing could substantiated.

When abuse occurred at Abu Ghraib, the people responsible were punished and jailed. One of the main differences between the United States and the terrorists we are fighting that the ACLU fails to recognize; is the fact that we hold our own people to a high standard of accountability while the terrorists themselves engage in the lowest form of human behavior including beheading and torture of innocent civilians who's only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time and ending up as hostages. In fact as the documents released by the ACLU today show, the enemy combatants are being treated as well or better as prisoners in American prisons and these terrorists are not even United States citizens. The ACLU has been successful up to this point in having the rights of an American citizen conveyed upon terrorists who have sworn to kill us.

The results of the recently completed report on the alleged Koran abuse actually found that the terrorists themselves defaced their own Korans many more times then any US personal. The ACLU claims that the released documents represent a pattern of systematic abuse that has been condoned at the highest levels. Frankly the ACLU is wrong and could be rightly accused of providing aid and comfort to our enemies. Here is the link to their latest collection of “found” documents, let me give you a couple of examples and then I will point out a few things regarding their believability.

DETAINEES 3849-3854 Summary of FBI interview of detainee at Guantanamo Bay 05/21/02 Records detainee stating that "prior to an interview in Bagram, he was forced to strip naked in front of others."

DETAINEES 3873-3875 Summary of FBI interview of detainee at Guantanamo Bay 07/30/02 Notes that "[t]he Camp Delta detainee uprising which occurred on or about 19-20 July 2002, was started when one detainee claimed that a guard dropped a Qur'an. In actuality the detainee dropped the Qur'an and then blamed the guard. Many other detainees reacted to this claim and this initiated the uprising."

DETAINEES 3878-3881 Summary of FBI interview of detainee at Guantanamo Bay 08/01/02 Notes that "[p]rior to his capture, REDACTED had no information against the United States. Personally, he has nothing against the United States. The guards in the detention facility do not treat him well. Their behavior is bad. About five months ago, the guards beat the detainees. They flushed a Qur'an in the toilet. The guards dance around when the detainees are trying to pray. The guards still do these things."

DETAINEES 3926-3927 Summary of FBI interview of detainee at Guantanamo Bay 10/22/02 Notes, "REDACTED began the interview by saying he was under stress because he had not heard from his family and did not know how they were doing. REDACTED said that a guard at Camp Delta, several weeks before, told him he had mail, but that it could not be given to him until after it was translated. REDACTED said that he was still waiting for the letter, and was bothered because it had not yet been delivered to him."

DETAINEES 3947-3948 Summary of FBI interview of detainee at Guantanamo Bay 12/09/02 Notes that "REDACTED engaged in limited conversation, stating he would no answer any questions because he feels he has been mistreated. When asked how he has been mistreated, REDACTED replied he felt like an animal having to be moved in chains. . . . REDACTED did request legal counsel, at which point the interviewers explained that, under his current conditions, he was not entitled to legal counsel."

DETAINEES 3982-3984 Summary of FBI interview of detainee at Guantanamo Bay 03/28/03 Notes that "Detainee REDACTED stated that the treatment of the Qur'an continued to be the reason for his unwillingness to cooperate. REDACTED was asked how the mistreatment of the Qur'an had taken place. REDACTED stated that the issue continued to be based on what the detainees perceived as the use of the Qur'an as a weapon. It was taken from them and returned at will, with little consideration for the value which they placed in the book. REDACTED was asked if he had ever seen the Qur'an mistreated or intentionally mishandled. He had not. REDACTED was asked if he had ever seen the Qur'an thrown around, tossed on the ground or mistreated in any way. He had not . . . . REDACTED was informed that his case for the proper treatment of the Qur'an had been taken to higher levels and presented as a serious issue. The effort had been hurt, however, because it had been found that detainees were hiding things within the pages of the Qur'an. As a result, the guards were required to look through the Qur'an for their own safety. REDACTED was asked if he could assure camp officials that none of the detainees would ever hide any objects of any kind in their Qur'ans. He stated he could not.

DETAINEES 3998 Summary of FBI interview of detainee at Guantanamo Bay 04/10/03 Notes that REDACTED "accused Pakistani Police with giving him electric shocks and U.S. troops of beating him. . . . REDACTED lied to the interrogators in Kandahar because he felt that if he didn't say what the interrogators wanted, they would continue to beat him. REDACTED was then shown a photograph of himself taken in Kandahar and asked to point out where any bruises or signs of a beating were located. REDACTED then admitted to lying about the beatings."

I have a couple points to make about these statements. The first point is this; certainly the vast majority of terrorists are not familiar with the way prisoners are treated in the United States or what rights an enemy combatant might have. That being said, I know nothing about prisoner treatment oversees but I would bet a large sum of money that the treatment at Gitmo is a hell of a lot better then say an Afghan, Russian, Turkish or Pakistani prison. This reminds me of a fact that the ACLU seems to forget all too often, these people are prisoners; prison is a punishment not a damn vacation resort. These prisoners are not true prisoners of war nor are they subject to the same benefits and rights of US citizenship but that is exactly what the ACLU is arguing on behalf of these men who are pledged to the destruction of America and everything she stands for. And for those on the short bus, that does include the ACLU.

The second point I would like to make about the believability of these statements comes directly from Al Qaeda in the form of one of their training manuals which was found after a successful raid in Manchester, England of an Al Qaeda member’s home. Here is the link. The manual states rather clearly that if captured, one is required to lie at all times to his jailers and make claims of abuse and mistreatment even if none exist. As I pointed out in the examples from the ACLU’s precious documents, the prisoners are lying to interrogators on a daily basis and nothing from their months can be trusted unless confirmed by multiple sources. I would sooner trust a politician to tell the truth before any of the terrorists being held by this country. As is the case during the course of a war, both sides engage in mind games to further each others agenda’s. Here is an interesting article that points out how this is happening in the War on Terror.

The ACLU should be ashamed of themselves for so easily being duped by a clear plan by these terrorists to further enflame their fellow prisoners and the Arab world at large. If the ACLU continues to press this false issue then they should seriously be looked at as provided aid and comfort to the enemy and thus prosecuted for treason. I don’t think I am outside the mainstream when I say that if the ACLU wants to maintain any kind of credibility they need to concern themselves with the rights and protection of American citizens and not terrorists who would sooner kill an ACLU attorney then thank them for their legal help. Perhaps if the ACLU and Muslims are so concerned with the abuse of the Koran then they should look in the mirror, deal with their own people who deface and disrespect the Koran on a daily basis or at least turn to countries where Koran defacement is not a myth. How about they start here? The five accidental incidents of disrespect to the Koran are being dealt with by the Department of Defense and amazingly enough; none involved flushing a Koran down the toilet.

Flying This Weekend? Don't!!!!!

I have learned from a source at one of the nation's leading airlines that there is a very real possibility that workers at United will strike this weekend as a protest for the recent court decision allowing United to terminate the union's pension.

This source is being told by managers at her/his airline that they will be picking up the slack because United's baggage handlers and customer service agents are expected to walk out on Friday or Saturday resulting in many canceled flights.

While I trust the source, I have been unable to confirm anything with friends at both United and the source's airline. I would put the odds at 70-30 in favor of a strike even with this court ruling today on the legality of a possible strike. I guess we will have to wait and see but if I was flying I look into making backup plans. Later folks.

Blogburst: Death to the ACLU

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."-Voltaire

The right to express unpopular opinions, advocate despised ideas(NAMBLA) and display graphic images is something the ACLU has steadfastly defended for all of its history. Exception: in the case for pro-lifers.

The ACLU's Reproductive Rights Project has a lot to do with why the ACLU is so reluctant to defend the rights of anti-abortion protesters.

"With a $2 million dollar budget and a staff of 17 employees, Janet Benshoof was the Union's most devoted activist for abortion rights.....she became so overextended in her approach that she advocated mob pressure on the judiciary; she pushed for "pro-choice" activists to march on court rooms where abortion cases were being heard."Twilight of Liberty
To the ACLU, anti-abortion protesters are not seen in the same light as civil rights demonstrators in the 60's, but as lunatic fascists out to destroy freedom.

"Hence, the reluctance of the ACLU to defend principle, that is, the excersize of First Ammendment rights by anti-abortion activists. Ironically, real facists-like the American Nazis and Klansmen-have had thier rights protected more often and with greater vigor by the ACLU than anti-abortion demonstrators.Twilight of Liberty
Of course there are loonies in the anti-abortion movement, but that was true of the civil rights movement, the anti-war movement of the 60's, and even today in the "pro-choice" demonstrators. Every movement has it's fringe element. But while the ACLU was right on top in defending any violations of the law for all of these movements, when it comes to the opponents of abortion having their First Amendment rights violated by the authorities, the ACLU is completely absent.

Not even having the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act(RICO) thrown at anti-abortion protesters moved the ACLU into action.

The ACLU is nominally opposed to the RICO statute, and there are some senior members, like Washington official Antonio Califa, who are truly opposed to the invocation of RICO against any protesters, including opponents of abortion. However, due largely to the influence of Benshoof, the ACLU's record is grievously stained in this area.Twilight of Liberty

It was actually her suggestion in a booklet titled, "Preserving the Right to Choose: How to Cope with Violence and Disruption at Abortion Clinics." The ACLU would not tolerate the use of RICO against nuclear weapons dissedents, but in the case of anti-abortion protesters the matter is quite different. In fact, the ACLU has actually used the RICO against them. When pro-life demonstrators were sued under RICO in Philadelphia, the local chapter of the ACLU filed an amicus brief on behalf of the plaintiffs, the Northeast Women's Center.

The ACLU missed another opportunity to defend civil liberties in 1989 in West Harford, Connecticut. It was on June 17 that 261 persons were arrested, and then physically abused by police, for staging a sit-in.

The police used "come-a-long" holds, or "pain compliance holds", with a result that many claimed permanent nerve damage. Some were denied medical care, and others were not allowed phone calls for over two days. One woman had to have surgery after the police damaged her uterus. The ACLU did nothing.

When John Spear, a publisher of a small New York newspaper, wrote an editorial against police brutality, he too was slapped with a RICO suit. He was charged with extortion. The ACLU did nothing.

"Why do they still call it a civil liberties union?" commented ACLU member and nemesis Nat Hentoff. When pressed about cases like the West Hartford one, the ACLU typically responds that it can't get involved with the defense of antiabortion protesters because it is already committed ot the ise of the abortion clinics. When John Leo asked Alan Dershowitz, "Can it be that the affiliates sometimes deliberately involve themselves early on one side so they will have an excuse not to help victims on the other?" the Harvard Law professor replied, "Absolutely. They go to the pro-choice people and say, "Get us in right away, "thereby giving them the excuse of conflict of interest in the event they are contacted by the anti-abortion side. And what does the ACLU say when asked specifically about its duplicity regarding RICO? Lynn Paltrow, who worked for Benshoof, explained the Union's attitude: "Its ACLU policy to oppose application of RICO, but there are those on staff who feel that as long as RICO exists, this kind of behavior (Operation Rescue tactics) does fit." "In other words," as John Leo puts it, "RICO is totally bad, but sort of useful."Twilight of Liberty,
It looks pretty clear to me. In the eyes of the ACLU you the First Amendment protects child molesters, perverts, and facists, but not Pro-lifers! Quite hypocritical in my opinion.

Howard Dean Plays The Scarecrow On "Meet The Press": A Man Without A Brain

Recently Howard Dean made an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” with Tim Russert and did his best impression of the Scarecrow from “The Wizard of Oz”. I usually don’t get up that early on a Sunday morning but through the wonder of DVR technology I was able to watch the show at my leisure and boy was it entertaining. Here is the link to the transcript so everyone can follow along while I have some fun with Howie’s statements.

The first topic was the current issue of the Democrats using filibusters to block judicial nominees. Dr. Dean stuck to the party line of how the Republicans were messing with 200 years of history and what a dangerous move it was, bah, bah, bah. I personally tuned him out after the first 15 seconds of his opening statement since he had nothing new to add to the same sad story that the Democrats have been preaching for the last two months. I did find it interesting that in addition to the many Democrats who once supported a straight up or down vote, such as Harry Reid, Robert Byrd, Barbra Boxer, we can now add Patrick Leahy to the list with this recent quote of his, “I have stated over and over again on this floor that I would object and fight against any filibuster on a judge, whether it is somebody I opposed or supported; that I felt the Senate should do its duty. If we don't like somebody the president nominates, vote him or her down. But don't hold them in this anonymous unconscionable limbo, because in doing that, the minority of Senators really shame all Senators.”

Now that sounds like the thoughts of a reasonable man, too bad the quote is from when the Democrats controlled Congress and Leahy has now also changed his mind and sound more like Howard Dean. One last point on the judicial filibustering since the point is now moot. I have to give Tim Russert credit for pointing out that the fact that number of judicial appointees that were blocked by Republicans and the way they were blocked in committee is almost exactly the same for what the Democrats are currently doing. So this continual bullshit that Harry Reid, reinforced by our buddy Howie, is putting out there about how the Republicans blocked more of Clinton’s appointees is just that, bullshit.

The conversation then turned to the entertaining comments made by Howard Dean in regards to House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. Russert played a collection of Dean’s quotes and he got quite pale and seemed to be quite put out. Especially when Russert brought up that in December of 2003 Mr. Dean made the statement that we should not prejudge Osama Bin Laden. Below is the section of the transcript, please read on and we will discuss on the other side.

MR. RUSSERT: You said in December of 2003 that we shouldn't prejudge Osama bin Laden. How can you sit here and have a different standard for Tom DeLay and prejudge him?

DR. DEAN: To be honest with you, Tim, I don't think I'm prejudging him. The things that I just read off--offering the congressman's son campaign money, providing Westar, the energy company, with a seat at the table in exchange for contributions, using the Department of Homeland Security to track down the private plane of political enemies--those are things that he has already been adjudicated for. Now, the question is: Where is this going to end up? I think there's a reasonable chance that this may end up in jail. And I don't think people ought to do these kinds of things in public service. I do not think they ought to do these kinds of things in public service. And I don't think Democrats should, either.

MR. RUSSERT: But shouldn't that be for a jury to decide and not you?

DR. DEAN: A jury will decide that.

MR. RUSSERT: Barney Frank, a liberal Democrat, said, "That's just wrong. I think Howard Dean was out of line talking about DeLay. The man has not been indicted. I don't like him, I disagree with some of what he does, but I don't think you, in a political speech, talk about a man as a criminal or his jail sentence."

DR. DEAN: As I said before, we're not speculating here. Three of the things I've mentioned he has already done and been admonished for by the House Ethics Committee. Look, Harry Truman was campaigning in 1948, and a guy went up and said, "Give 'em hell, Harry!" And Harry Truman said, "I don't give 'em hell. I just tell the truth and the Republicans think it's hell."

So Mr. Dean wants to basically give OBL the benefit of the doubt, a known terrorist and NOT a US citizen who is subject to due process, and yet he has already tried, convicted, and sentenced Tom DeLay. Does Howard Dean have a secret admiration for OBL or he is just pandering to the Islamic world by not being critical of their de facto leader? I don’t think so but perhaps he really believes that we should not prejudge OBL and he just was being honest when he said he hated all Republicans. Here’s some more from Dean on DeLay.

MR. RUSSERT: So you will not retract or apologize your comments about Tom DeLay?

DR. DEAN: Absolutely not.

MR. RUSSERT: This is what you told The Philadelphia Inquirer. "[Dean] said Democrats need `message discipline.' He said they should for the present forego the satisfaction of attacking House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's ethics problems ... and focus on attacking Bush's plan to create private Social Security accounts."

You're not taking your own advice.

DR. DEAN: Well, I am in this sense. That was a couple of months ago, and this has been an issue that's been in the news with the Jack Abramoff scandals, and it's been so in the news that you can't not comment on it. Again, another scandal that's going on, the Republicans, Jack Abramoff, one of the president's leading fund-raisers, now being investigated for essentially selling influence to get into the White House and a variety of things like that.

Now what Howie fails to mention and what Tim Russert did not call him on was the fact that Abramoff is a leading fundraiser for both parties including Patrick Kennedy. He contributed $115,000 to the son of Edward Kennedy. Jack Abramoff was and still is a lobbyist, he is not an operative of the Republican Party as Dean would like everyone to believe. While it is true that Abramoff did raise a $100,000 for Bush/Cheney 2004, he was not the only person who did so, according to this list, he is quite a ways down the list so how influence could he really have? In my humble opinion, his sphere of influence was strictly members of Congress but Dean is once again spreading misinformation, perhaps he has rehired Daily Kos to do his speech and appearance preparation.

I have just a couple of other points of Dean’s lunacy, it’s hard to limit myself since he provides so many good ways to show what an idiot he is. I do really feel sorry for all of the moderate and centrist Democrats who have had their party hijacked by this guy and his far left lackeys. In the quotes below, Dean talks about being misquoted but turns the table of Russert and launches into his regular tirade about Iraq.

MR. RUSSERT: Let me talk about some of the things you have said about the Republicans. Here's Howard Dean in January: "I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for..."

Howard Dean in February: "This is a struggle between good and evil and we're the good?"

Do you really hate Republicans? Do you consider them evil?

DR. DEAN: I don't--well, actually that was a little out of context. But I don't hate Republicans as individuals. But I hate what the Republicans are doing to this country. I really do. I hate deficits, as you know. When I was governor, I really was very tough on fiscal responsibility. Deficits in the long run aren't good for the country, and they do lower our standard of living. Every American family knows that you have to pay your bills. I hate the dishonesty, you know, the idea that you'd put a program through Congress without telling people what it costs, I think that's wrong. Some of the things that the president said on our way into Iraq, they just weren't true, and I don't think that's right. So...

MR. RUSSERT: Such as?

DR. DEAN: Such as the weapons of mass destruction, which we have all known about, but the...

MR. RUSSERT: Well, you said there were weapons of mass destruction.

DR. DEAN: I said I wasn't sure, but I said I thought there probably were.

That last statement of his goes on and on and on and on so if you want to read his standard Iraq rant by all means visit the online transcript with this link. Ok, I admit that last quote really has no point other then I wanted to show how he is just out pandering to the party faithful with that type of rhetoric and does not stand behind what he says hence the conclusion that he does not really stand for anything. Hmmm, sounds a lot like a certain Senator from Massachusetts. Call me crazy but I prefer my leaders to actually believe what they say and stand for. This next and last quote from Dean’s television appearance last Sunday serves to illustrate the internal split of the Democratic Party and how far left they are moving. In fact as the following statements by Dean just show that the Democrats are so far left that they can’t even support a Socialist. I say good luck and God bless but I don’t see them winning too many elections.

MR. RUSSERT: In your home state of Vermont, there's a vacancy for the United States Senate about to occur. Bernie Sanders, the congressman from Vermont, wants to run for that seat. He is a self- described avowed socialist.

DR. DEAN: Well, that's what he says. He's really a populist.

MR. RUSSERT: But is there room in the Democratic Party for a socialist?

DR. DEAN: Well, first of all, he's not a socialist, really.

MR. RUSSERT: He...

DR. DEAN: He hasn't said that for a while.

MR. RUSSERT: Oh, he has a--he wrote in his book: "Outside or in the House, I am a Democratic socialist."

DR. DEAN: Well, a Democratic socialist--all right, we're talking about words here. And Bernie can call himself anything he wants. He is basically a liberal Democrat, and he is a Democrat that--he runs as an Independent because he doesn't like the structure and the money that gets involved. And he actually has, I think, some good points about campaign finance reform. The bottom line is that Bernie Sanders votes with the Democrats 98 percent of the time. And that is a candidate that we think...

MR. RUSSERT: So you'd support him?

DR. DEAN: We may very well end up supporting him. We need to work some things out because it's very important for us not to split the votes in some of the other offices as well.

MR. RUSSERT: In 1996 you said you would never have voted for Bernie Sanders. Instead, you opted in recent years to leave the ballot blank.

DR. DEAN: Bernie and I have had our difficulties over the years. We've had our strong disagreements. He's a strong personality. We're fighting for the future of America, and a Bernie Sanders in the United States Senate is going to be a whole lot better than somebody who will vote to confirm right-wing judges, somebody who will vote to undo minority rights, somebody who will vote to kill Social Security. This is a battle where personalities and differences have to be put aside, and we have to do what's right for America.

MR. RUSSERT: You describe...

DR. DEAN: And Bernie Sanders will be a strong candidate.

Wow, I mean wow. Finally a Democrat comes clean and admits that really all Liberal Democrats are just Democrat Socialists and they just call themselves Liberals so as too not scare the American people by being placed in the same mold as other Socialists. That is fantastic and I plan on using it quite a bit in the future, thanks Howie. Sorry about the length but sometimes you just have to go long. Have a great day everyone.

As a group of concerned citizens who want to hold our leaders accountable we’ve formed a blogburst group to drive the issue home. If you want to join the blogroll for Kerry’s 180, click here to email the group founder, Cao and include the url for your blog. The blogburst is every Tuesday, so don’t forget to blog about it. All you have to do is encourage people to send him his 180, Just ask in your email and Cao will send you the code for the blogroll.

Here's the link to the actual form that he needs to fill out, as you can see there is not really much to it. Hell, I bet even one of his staffers could fill it out for him and make it even easier for him. Folks the simple truth is that like many of the "soldiers" at Kerry's famed Winter Meetings, Kerry lied about his service and because he has made it a centerpiece of his public service his record or lack there of is a issue he must deal with. Join in as we start to send pens to John's office so he can fill out and sign the form. So quote a great American:

Democrat Governor Tries on Mussolini's Shoes: A Real Live Example of Fascism

Quite often these days those on the left apply the label of fascist or fascism to the current administration without really knowing what it means or has stood for in the past. I blame the failing of public schools in part for that but mainly it has to do with the overall intellectual laziness of the left. For those who wish to know what fascism is please read below and then I will show you an example right here in the United States at the state government level. I think you may be a little surprised by the source.

fas·cism (fa-sh-z-m)

n.

  1. often Fascism
    1. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
    2. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.
  2. Oppressive, dictatorial control.

Fascism

n : a political theory advocating an authoritarian hierarchical government (as opposed to democracy or liberalism)

Source: WordNet ® 2.0, © 2003 Princeton University

Recently in the wonderfully Liberal state of Illinois the Governor decided that he was simply above all laws and due processes and since that was the case he would issue an order to impose his will/morals/beliefs on others thus violating their Constitutionally protected rights. Gosh that sounds a lot like the actions of a fascist. For those not up on the current events of Illinois politics the gentlemen in question is Rod Blagojevich. For those who say why should anyone care about what happening in Illinois, stay tuned and you will soon know why this is a big deal and why the MSM is all but ignoring the story.

On April 1st the Governor issued an emergency 150 day executive order requiring pharmacies that sell contraceptives to fill prescriptions for birth control without delay. The order was issued in response to some pharmacies refusing to fill birth control prescriptions on the grounds that they were morally opposed to such drugs based on their religious beliefs. In most cases the prescription was then either filled by another pharmacist without any moral objection or a different pharmacy. The governor took the issue a step further and then filed a permanent rule with the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) to ensure its emergency action protecting women’s access to contraceptives continues once the 150-day emergency rule expires. The permanent rule, like the emergency rule filed on April 1, requires drug stores that stock and dispense contraceptives to fill birth control prescriptions without delay.

By trampling over the religious beliefs of those pharmacists who object on moral grounds and then seeking to bypass the Illinois Legislature with this “rule change” the governor has finally shown his true colors as a student of fascism. Now if this was a random occurrence for him I might give him the benefit of the doubt but since he is currently pushing a prospective law censoring video games sales, I would say that he fits the bill and slides in to those Mussolini shoes quite nicely. Frankly I would like to think that freedom of religion extends to not be forced to do things by a government institution at your job. Especially if those actions might violate your own moral code and I think in most states that is the case but in the People’s Republic of Illinois that is not the case.

The governor is under fire and currently being sued by ACLJ on behalf of two Illinois pharmacists. The ACLJ take on the governor’s directive is that it’s out of step with state law, an abuse of his power as the state’s chief executive, and it discriminates against pharmacists who may have religious or moral objections to dispensing birth control medication including the “Morning After Pill”. If the directive stands it has further implications for those in the workplace then just religious discrimination. It has the potential to add another play to the standard playbook of groups such as the ACLU who has remained suspiciously silent on this attack on personal freedoms. In fact when I contacted them for a comment last week I was directly to their website for their position on the governor’s actions. Small problem, the information that I was assured was on the website was nowhere to be found. I encourage anyone who has some spare time to drop them a call, but be prepared to jump through hoops to get to a real person.

Now the actions by Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich don’t exactly fit the description of fascism but they are damn close and if upheld it would set a terrible precedent for future governors, or even higher government officials. I am sure most people will look at this issue as one of reproductive rights but for my money it is a larger issue of personal freedom being encroached by the effort of one man to make things convenient for a small segment of people, small in the regard that very, very few women are being inconvenienced. If the women who have a delay in getting their prescriptions filled take their business to another pharmacy then the marketplace will shake it out and those pharmacies that provide quicker service will prevail. I don’t think the women should be lectured and if done right they would never know that their prescription was passed to another pharmacist. By the same standard, those who have a religious or moral objection to filling those types of prescriptions do not deserve to be punished for their personal beliefs. This issue appears to be in for a long bitter legal fight so stay tuned and for those on the short bus, try to actually look up the definition of a word now and then. Maybe then you would recognize when one of your own is a fascist rather then the President of the United States.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

WTF Friday Rant Volume 1 Issue 24

So much stuff to comment on and yet only so little time. Yes I have seen Episode III and yes it kicks serious tail but let's talk about a few other things today. On to the madness I found on the web in the last few days, have a great weekend everyone.

OBL following the Chinese playbook, in for the long haul. Really? Guess what OBL, we have read the Art of War also and we have many more toys then you so to quote from a favorite movie of mine, "Run and Hide Asshole, Run and Hide!"
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle

GoDaddy.com makes up for their lame Super Bowl ad and does the right thing by threatening to pull plug on Minuteman Project harassers. Yes Virginia there is limits to free speech.
http://kvoa.com/Global/story.asp?S=3354559

I honestly don't know how Harry Reid sleeps at night after spending all day lying to the public about his use of the filibuster to block judicial appointees. Do these quotes sound familiar Harry? "Tom Harkin said 'The president, nominee, and all Americans deserve an up-or-down vote.' 'The filibuster rules are not constitutional,' said Tom Daschle." So I ask what has changed for these Democrats? They are not in power and have nothing to offer so to a man or woman they have flipped their positions and have embraced their role as the Party of No.
http://bbsnews.net/article.php/2005051814064497

I wish I knew who appointed Howard Dean with this current nickname, "The Gift that keeps on Giving". Hey Howie the only scoreboard that matters between elections is fund-raising and by the latest tally you’re a "loser" to quote the ever wise Harry Reid. Let's go to the tape, "First quarter figures show the DNC received only $13 million from individuals, compared to $32 million raised by the Republican National Committee (RNC). Overall figures were $34.2 million by the RNC, $16.7 million by the DNC."
http://www.theunionleader.com/articles_showfast.h

But wait there is more to the Howie Dean story. Last week he called for Tom Delay to be put in jail because of his alleged travel dealings. Hmmm, but what does Howie think about two of his own getting caught doing the same exact thing that Delay is being accused of? Not a Damn Thing! And why is that you ask? Because regardless of who you are or what your are, hypocrisy is a damn hard thing to defend on any level.
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/n

It truly sucks to be a friend of Bill and Hillary Clinton, just ask everyone who has either gone to jail to protect them or is facing jail. It's only a matter of time before Bill or Hillary slip up and crash and burn. Here's to hoping this is the time.
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-rosen20m

Once John Bolton is finally confirmed after the Democrats are done playing their games he is going to lay a serious smack down on the French and IMHO they absolutely deserve it.

Hispanics plan a boycott of Arizona as punishment for what they feel are anti-immigrant laws passed recently. Wonder how well the boycott will go when INS shows up at their rallies and arrests all of their protesters for being here illegally? My kids are 50% Hispanic and while I will teach them to embrace and respect their heritage they will also learn that they are Americans first, Hispanics second. On a more personal note I have a message for the racist Salvador Reza, kiss my Arizona loving, illegal immigrant of any color, any nationality hating bulbous white ass. Sorry I have no translation since English is what we speak here in America. If being opposed to people who break the law is racist then I and the majority of Arizona fit the bill.
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/local/article

Finally an Immigration Reform Bill that I can get behind. Check it out and let me know what you think of it. I hope that enough people in Washington have gotten the message that we are fed up with their inability to protect this nation and enforce its laws.

This is going to be a big one and yet once again the ACLU is on the wrong side of an issue. If a faith based group is getting results that benefit the rest of society or even the individuals then why does it matter whose paying the electric bill, or the phone bill, or the printer's bill? A little common sense would go a long way on this issue. Oh one more thing for those Asshats at the ACLU, indoctrination is when someone is forced in to a belief system by physical or mental threat or coercion. The people you have brought this suit against are doing good in their community and yet the program is voluntary, no guns being held to anyone's head or other methods of persuasion. Once again I am forced to state that the ACLU is the best example of a good intention gone horribly wrong.

A Little Bit of This and A Little Bit of That

For those of us who “worship” at the altar of Lucas, today is a holiday. In fact I took today off and while I will be going to see Star Wars III this afternoon, I actually needed to have my knee looked at, possible fluid but I digress. I want to hit a few things that are getting under my skin and try to keep it lighter then normal. Now without further ado and in the style of the “McLaughlin Group” on with the show.

Issue One: The Newsweek Debacle and the hypocrisy of Muslims across the World.

Newsweek surely screwed the pooch on this one and in my humble opinion will never be able to climb out from underneath this. Folks put a fork in them, they are done. On a regular basis the Koran, Torah, and the Christian Bible are defaced, destroyed and disrespected across this planet, often by members of the religion that the holy book belongs to in the first place. So why did Muslims in Afghanistan and Pakistan get so upset with the false report from Newsweek about possible desecration of the Koran? Frankly because while we continue to pour money into both countries, our support there is largely based upon the minority that run said countries. Folks even after we have bent over backwards to help Pakistan and continued to rebuild Afghanistan it comes down to a “what have you done for me lately” mentality and an uneducated populace that is fed anti-American views 24-7 by “religious” leaders and Al-Jazeera. It’s a long road and if we want to keep the fight over there, we as a nation need to be prepared for this and do a better job of making our positions known. We are losing the PR war and the American media needs to remember that they are Americans first, “journalists” second.

Issue Two: The Texas prosecutor in the Tom Delay case is a Democrat fundraiser.

I will never fault someone for working for their chosen political party in whatever manner suits them but where is the common sense in this case? This is already a fiercely partisan issue and this guy goes out and speaks at a Democrat fundraiser after he has opened the investigation into Delay. Hello McFly? If I was a Texas Democrat that had sold his or her sold to the Devil for a Tom Delay conviction I would be furious because if this proceeds any further it certainly going to look partisan now if it was not already. Correction, Democrats have no souls so the Devil is getting screwed in that deal, sorry Big Red better luck next time.

Issue Three: When is a movie sometimes just a movie and not a political statement?

When the movie is question is made by anyone other then Quentin Tarentino, Michael Moore, Oliver Stone and their type. The Asshats over at MoveOn.org have once again gone off their meds and are having their extremely misled members try to pass out flyers at theaters showing Star Wars III : Revenge of The Sith. They claim the storyline of the movie parallels what is happening in the United States Senate. Obviously I don’t care for the MoveOn crowd; in fact I think they should be sterilized so as not to reproduce, but sometimes a movie is just a movie, nothing more or less. The entire purpose of a movie to entertain and sometimes make you think about an issue, the latest installment of Star Wars is not an issue piece and by all accounts a damn entertaining film.

Issue Four: Is Howard Dean, as chairman of the DNC, the gift that keeps on giving?

Howard Dean was in Phoenix yesterday to meet with some business leaders and speak to the party faithful but our “wonderful” Democrat governor was no where to be seen. Usually that is a bad sign when the head of a state party will not meet with the head of the national party however in this case it just means that Janet Napolitano is a smart politician. She is enjoying strong numbers here in a Republican Arizona and smartly wants no part of the Dean/Moore/MoveOn wacko wing of the party. Look for some more great “Deanisms” this Sunday when Howie goes up against Tim Russert on NBC’s “Meet the Press” this Sunday morning. I for one will be setting my DVR in advance of the potential fireworks.

Issue Five: Will the war in Iraq spread to Syria or Iran due to their financing and training of foreign terrorists in Iraq?

I hope not but one of the greatest lessons learned from the Vietnam War was that you have to deny your enemy safe haven so it remains to be seen. Syria and Iran are not even trying to hide the fact that they are “allowing” foreign terrorists to cross into Iraq and further obstruct the Iraqi people’s path to a free and independent nation. The United States and its allies must bring all pressure to bear on both Syria and Iran, including military pressure, to stop the flow of reinforcements to Al-Qaeda in Iraq. Syria I hope got a glimpse of what it could face when the Marines took it to the terrorists last week along the Iraq/Syria border. It has already been shown that they can be pressured into doing what is right, hence their withdrawal from Lebanon. The Iranians are however another story and frankly are a little too sure of themselves for my liking but I am sure that will change the first time they tangle with the United States military. I pray that may never happen but Iran seems to want a military engagement with someone.

Well I am off to see a movie that is just a movie with my wife so everyone have a wonderful evening and May The Force Be With You.

Blogburst: Death to the ACLU

Sex For Sale

The ACLU's Policy 211 is straightforward. "The ACLU supports the decriminalization of prostitution and opposes state regulation of prostitution". They base their argument on several points, including that existing laws are discrimination against women, and the right of individual privacy. They argue that what two consenting adults in private do is their own business.

Prostitution is private? But isn't the prostitute engaging in business, isn't she providing a service? Would we not regulate and license a business? You wouldn't want a general contractor to work on your house without a license would you? That would be unsafe as is an unregulated prostitute.

However, the ACLU doesn't believe in that philosophy. The question of privacy comes in if the government is allowed to regulate the oldest profession.

As for it being a privacy issue, it seems a contradiction to me when they also state that the "public" solicitation of prostitution is "entitled to the protection of the First Amendment". "It's not just the bedroom that the ACLU wishes to make off-limits to public censure, but also the local street corner, presumably even if that corner is regularly used by school children crossing the street." Source

Privacy applies to two consenting adults when no contract is involved; a date with no expectation of performance is a far cry from paying for a service.

And what good would it do for women's rights to decriminalize this? One could argue that women should not be punished for their own exploitation. But how does decriminalizing pimps, buyers, procurers, brothels or other sex establishments offer any solution to this? Decriminalization would do nothing but expand the sex industry and send a message to society that it is acceptable. And a system unregulated would do nothing for women's health, and would only promote the spread disease.

The more I learn about the ACLU, the more I am convinced that they want to establish a new society based on everything immoral. They are blinded by their elitist ideology to the point they can't even conceive of the possible consequences that will result if they are enacted. The scary thing is that they hold so much power, and lack so much responsibility. They must be stopped.

WTF Friday Rant Volume 1 Isue 23

Well it's that time again folks and before I rush head long into the craziness that is the WTF Friday Rant I would like to share a little gem of a story from my son. My son is 4 years old and in the process of finally ditching the diaper/pull-up and joining the rest of us "civilized" people in using the toilet. Well since my wife works during the evenings occasionally I take care of the kids. Yesterday when I asked my son is he had to use the bathroom he said to me, "I am all out of pee-pee Daddy, Mommy has to get me some more at the store." I fell down laughing and wished I had his response on video tape. I tried to explain to him that his body makes "pee-pee" and it was not something that could be bought at the store like one of his toys. He was insistent that he was all out and could not use the bathroom until his Mother came home with his new "supply". To his credit he did not have any accidents and once my wife came home he used the bathroom without and trouble. I of course was criticized for not just telling him that I could get him some more from the pantry so he could have gone before my wife came home. Well my kid is no dummy, in fact he is very intelligent for his age and will without a doubt be much smarter then I once he grows up. Thus my reasoning for not encouraging his theory of urine production. If you have kids then you know how funny this episode was, if not well I just wasted 30 seconds of your time. Either way enjoy the links below and have a great weekend everyone.

The government has now shown its true position on illegal immigration, and told the Border Patrol not to do their job during The Minuteman Project. I am furious about this and unfortunately not surprised. Too many interests are served by illegal immigration as it stands today, businesses and politicians mostly, for anything to change overnight. This story needs to be investigated to find how far up the chain of command this lack of commitment to our national security goes. I urge everyone within view of my typed words to contact the Border Patrol directly and pressure them to come clean about who ordered them to stand-down during the month of April between Douglas and Naco on the Arizona/Mexico border. These men and women have a tough enough job to do without having their hand ties by an order from above like this. Below is the contact information for the area in question as well as the contact information for the main office in Washington DC. Hat tip to Raven of Wide Awakes for the link.

There is no hope of reform from Mexico since illegal immigration is such a cash cow for their economy so we must force our government to do their job of securing the borders.

How long before we see armed border disputes with Mexico? Too late, it's already happening in Texas and other places on the border. Do you think this drug punks would take this bullsh*t if we had the military along the border? I don't think so.

Government considered shooting down errant plane. I say hell yeah. Follow my thinking on this. The no-fly zone has been in place around Washington DC for going on 5 years now and on a limited basis long before 9/11. Hence anyone that flys into it and does not response as this plane did initially runs the risk of being shot down.
