In Case You Have Forgotten......

While we are all fixated on the Hurricane Katrina, and rightfully so, it bears mentioning that we need to be aware of the threat that Al-Qaeda poses during this time of recovery for the Gulf Coast. The scale of misery and destruction that Katrina has wrought can only be matched by a nuclear attack on American soil which experts tells us could happen at any moment. The situation on our southern border is not going to be fixed all by itself and given the amount of time the President and Congress will be sending on Katrina and the Supreme Court, it will be a miracle if any political capital will be left to spend on a little problem like 500,000 illegal immigrants a year waltzing into our country.

Recently we have heard reports about the increasing violence of the Mexican drug trade coming north of the border courtesy of the MS-13 gang or Mara Salvatrucha. MS-13 was founded in El Salvador and known for smuggling drugs and immigrants across the U.S.-Mexico border. Rep. Solomon Ortiz (D-Texas), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, which oversees national security, testified before that very committee about the present endeavors of MS-13 and it is chilling.

"The al-Qaeda, from what we understand, has been meeting with them in Central America," said Rep. Solomon Ortiz, D-Texas, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, which oversees national security. Ortiz testified in March that al-Qaeda has offered MS-13 about $250,000 to smuggle "high value al-Qaeda operatives across the border." "Only God knows who or what they've been able to bring in" to the United States, Ortiz told The Associated Press.

Given the expertise that MS-13 has in smuggling illegal immigrants across the border without detection, one can only imagine how many terrorists might be already in the United States waiting for activation by their handlers. Sadly, the current crisis on the Gulf Coast presents these Islamic terrorists with an opportunity to cripple the United States for quite a long time. That being said, I ask this question of the government, is it wise to transfer 200 Border Patrol agents from anywhere on the border? Rumor is the agents are from Arizona and New Mexico but the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration, and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will not confirm where the agents are coming from. Do not get me wrong, the citizens of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama need all the help we can send them but let us use some common sense. You don’t pull people off of an already porous border when you can send National Guard or active-duty military units who are quite a bit more suited for the long task ahead in that region.

On top of all that, news comes an interview with the author of a new book about al-Qaeda’s nuclear ambition, “The Al Qaeda Connection” by Dr. Paul L. Williams, that lays out exactly how the terrorist group will and possibility has brought nuclear weapons to the United States for a future attack. The entire interview can be found here, I encourage everyone to read it. The most chilling part of the interview to me was when Dr. Williams is asked about when OBL and al-Qaeda might launch these attacks, read his response below. The initials RM represent the interviewer Ryan Mauro and the PW stand for Paul Williams.

RM: Is there any indication of when Bin Laden intends to use the arsenal?

PW: Bin Laden can't sit on these weapons for years. They require constant maintenance. At any given time, a tactical nuke exudes a temperature in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. This means that they are prone to oxidation and rust. Moreover, the triggers that emit large quantities of neutrons at high speeds decay rapidly and have short half-lives - - most would become useless without maintenance in less than four months. The nuclear cores also are subject to decay and over the course of several years would fall below the critical mass threshold. Though the shells that encase the cores are the most durable parts of the weapons, they, too, are subject to contamination. The tritium used to compensate for the required amount of conventional explosives to compress the fissile core within the compact devices is less of an issue since it has a half-life of 12.3 years. Taking all things into consideration, the attack should occur within the very near future. The bombs which bin Laden began building in 1992 are for the American Hiroshima.

According to those calculations, the attack could come any day going forward including today. Folks you have all seen the chaos that New Orleans descended into after a natural disaster, can you imagine what might happen to any city and the surrounding area after a nuclear attack? The chaos and insanity would be a 100 times greater then New Orleans and certainly would be a serious blow to our sense of national security.

The “wonderful” folks on the left like to cry about where OBL is and why we have not caught the leader of al-Qaeda. Well I think we will better served if we catch this man, Adnan el-Shukrijumah. Adnan el-Shukrijumah is thought to have been handpicked by OBL to lead his next attack on American soil. He is a pilot and has received training as a nuclear technician. The terrorist was last seen in Mexico, where, on Nov. 1, 2004, he allegedly hijacked a Piper PA Pawnee crop-duster from Ejido Queretaro near Mexacli to transport a nuclear weapon and nuclear equipment into the U.S.

He has been known to have met with all of the biggies in the al-Qaeda organization. He used to serve as the imam of the Farouq Mosque in Brooklyn. Yes that is the same Mosque that gave us the 1993 World Trade Center bombers including the “blind sheik” Omar Abdel Rahman. In 1995 Adnan moved to Florida, learned to fly and hung out with Jose Padilla, who planned to detonate a radiological bomb in midtown Manhattan and Mandhai Jokhan, who was convicted of attempting to blow up nuclear power plants in southern Florida. He even attended the same flight schools as Mohammad Atta and the other 9/11 hijackers in Florida and Oklahoma, yet he was not mentioned once in the 9/11 Commission report nor does he show up on the FBI’s Most Wanted List. Even more damning as to why he is not being actively sought are these facts: he traveled to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, where he met with Ramzi Binalshibh, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and other members of the al-Qaeda high command. He also spent considerable time within al-Qaeda camps in Afghanistan, where he received training in explosives and special operations. In fact, since March 21, 2004 when FBI Director Robert Mueller and former Attorney General John Ashcroft issued a Be On The Lookout (BOLO) for el-Shukrijumah, he has yet to be featured on any MSM television news, radio, or newspaper. This man who heads a team of sleeper cells who plan to use nuclear weapons against us have gotten a seemingly free ride from law enforcement and the MSM and all of our lives are at risk because of it.

I write this post in the hopes that while we are helping our fellow citizens in the Gulf Coast, we would also keep one eye on the border and everything that continuing threat consists of. Please donate either time or money to the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and other great organizations that are helping our neighbors in need. If your state is housing evacuees from the region see if you can help on a local level. I personally have applied to FEMA and other groups to help directly with the rebuilding of New Orleans, Biloxi, Gulfport, Mobile and the many other cities and towns that need it. If I am chosen I will be leaving on short notice but I will pledge to blog when able and bring everyone an onsite view that will definitely be outside the MSM. Keep all of these people in your prayers and please help out in any way you can. Have a great day everyone.
